Suffolk County is in general a very safe place to visit, as is most of Long Island. However, some areas have problems with gang activity. It is wise to avoid sections of Copiague, Central Islip, and Wyandanch at night. It is also wise to avoid all areas of Riverhead in both, the day and night!
